Job title: Clinical Nurse

Job purpose

• The clinical nurse is responsible for holistic patient care including triaging, administering drugs and ensuring the patients are comfortable at all times. Therefore responsible for psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs of the individual.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for the holistic care of patients, which encompasses the psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs of the individual.
• Administering the appropriate drugs to the patients
• Decision-making process for the treatment of patients and hence the nurse will think critically when assessing patient signs and identifying potential problems in order to make the appropriate recommendations and undertake the correct actions.
• Responsible for patient services eg; customer service, ensuring meals are provided on time, cleanliness and all clinical support
• Ensuring patient itemized billing
• Promoting patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, and family to understand the condition, medications, and self-care skills
• Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and calling for assistance from health care support personnel where necessary.
• Maintaining continuity of care among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs of the patients.
• Maintaining patient information as confidential by keeping information confidential.
• Maintaining nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies
• Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reading professional publications and participating in professional societies.
• Maintaining a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
• Conducting research for improving the nursing practices and healthcare outcomes.
• Assisting doctors during surgery, providing pre- and post-operation care
• Triaging and preparing patients for examinations
• Preparing rooms and decontaminating equipment’s and instruments.
• Any other duty a may be requested.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:
• Diploma in nursing or equivalent
• Registered with the nursing council of Kenya
• Three years working experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent MS Office skills
• Excellent team player
• Excellent customer service skills
• Flexible with excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to deal with difficult customers.
